The Highlights:
As a member of the Digital Services team, the Systems Librarian serves as the technical administrator of score library systems, including the integrated library systems, interlibrary loan, course reserves, the institutional repository, library support cloud software, and authentication system. Working closely with other Digital Services staff, the Systems Librarian will support patrons and other library staff in using digital resources and services.
The Systems Librarian will work in a highly-supportive and collegial culture that encourages active participation in meaningful and valuable skills training and professional development. This includes workshops, committee memberships, and engagement in programs that support the Library’s mission and its inclusion, diversity, equity, and access goals, while building connections and partnerships across DePaul’s wider academic and user community.
What You’ll Do:
Integrated Library Systems and Discovery Management
Serves as the primary administrator and point of contact for the integrated library system (ILS) (currently Alma Primo VE)
Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots the ILS
Supports library staff in using the ILS and implementing new features
Collaborates with staff in the Rinn Law Library to ensure consistent practices across the DePaul libraries
Oversees patron and course loads into the ILS and other systems
Manages systems (Course Reserves, Interlibrary Loan, Alma Digital) that connect to the ILS
Oversees documentation of ILS processes
Library Support Platforms
Serves as the primary administrator and point of contact for Springshare suite (including LibAnswers, LibGuides, LibCal, and others)
Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots Springshare
Supports staff use of Springshare
Informs staff of new features and changes in Springshare
Institutional Repository
Serves as the primary administrator and point of contact for the institutional repository system (currently BePress Digital Commons)
Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots the Institutional Repository
Supports Scholarly Communications librarian in acquiring, describing, and uploading new material
Other Systems
Collaborates with DePaul University Information Services to maintain authentication systems for library resources (Open Athens)
Maintains ContentDM Digital assessment manager software and service
Works with Information Systems and Digital Experience & Analysis on configuring online library resources.
Works with Center for Teaching in Learning to integrate library resources into D2L
Supports systems used by the Special Collections and Archives department as needed
Professional Development
Maintains an awareness of best practices in academic librarianship through engaging with scholarly and professional literature, participation in relevant conferences, workshops, and professional development programs, and applies lessons learned to current needs in the Library
Participates and represents the Library in university, state, regional, or national professional service activities
What You’ll Need:
Required:
Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program
3 years of academic library experience, of which at least 1 year of systems librarian or related functions
Demonstrated knowledge of integrated library systems, and/or library discovery systems
Demonstrated ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultural identities and foster an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment
Preferred:
Demonstrated knowledge of Alma/Primo, Open Athens, and Springshare.
Experience working in a consortial environment, such as CARLI’s I-Share.
Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent planning, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collect, organize, and interpret relevant statistical information and data.
Ability to work in a collegial environment in order to provide excellent library services.
Evening and weekend hours and travel among DePaul campuses may be required.
