Part-Time Veterinary Surgeon – Essex Are you a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon looking to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and dynamic environment? This thriving small animal surgery in Essex is on the lookout for a passionate professional to join their friendly and established team on an initial fixed-term contract. The practice offers free onsite parking and easy access to major transport routes including the A13 and M25. The purpose-built facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including digital X-ray, flexible endoscopes, and convenient access to a 16-slice CT scanner and MRI scanner. They pride themselves on using minimally invasive procedures and are well-equipped for routine orthopaedic surgeries such as cruciate repair and patella luxation. The team is passionate about pain management, routinely performing nerve blocks and CRIs, and staying updated with the latest advancements in anaesthesia and pain management. The practice is also equipped with multi-parameter monitors, nerve locator machines, drip pumps, and a top-notch ultrasound scanner for abdominal and heart scans. As a part-time Veterinary Surgeon, you will join a supportive team of 4 Vets, 3 Nurses, 3 Student Nurses, 1 VCA, 6 CCAs, a Practice Manager, and a fantastic Reception Manager. The team boasts a variety of individual interests, including orthopaedics, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging. You will have ample opportunities to learn, develop, and grow, seeing cases through from start to finish while building strong, lasting relationships with patients and clients. Clinical support is always available, ensuring you have hands-on experience in our operating theatre. Responsibilities

Provide high-quality veterinary care in a small animal practice on a part-time basis, with opportunities to learn, develop, and grow. Manage cases from initial consultation through to treatment and follow-up, in collaboration with the team. Utilise available facilities and equipment (including digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, CT/MRI access, and multi-parameter monitoring) to support diagnostics and procedures. Contribute to pain management and anaesthesia practices, including nerve blocks and CRIs. Engage with clients to ensure clear communication, welfare-focused care, and strong client relationships. Requirements

A qualified Veterinary Surgeon with RCVS registration Ideally 1-2 years of experience in small animal practice, with confidence in routine consults Interest in a specific area or preference for consults only — both are welcome Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A passion for animal welfare and high-quality patient care A team player attitude with the ability to work independently Contract & Hours

Initial fixed-term contract for 6-12 months, with the potential to become permanent Part-time position: one weekday (9 am–7 pm) and 1:4 weekends (Saturday 9 am–6 pm & Sunday 10:30 am–4:30 pm) No out-of-hours or bank holidays Benefits
