SUMMARY Become a vital force in Firefly’s groundbreaking journey to Launch, Land, and Orbit! Our Supply Chain Team is seeking sharp, energetic individuals with an unwavering eye for detail. As a Commodity Engineer, you’ll be a critical pillar of the Firefly Supply Chain Team. Step up, contribute meaningfully, and shape the future with us.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Support day-to-day purchasing duties for Commodity Management and Supply Chain groups.

Assist in supplier evaluation and selection process for new suppliers in R & D and production.

Support (TCO) cost savings efforts for R&D and production.

Help resolve risk issues from long lead, raw material, capacity, sole source, and other constraints that arise in the design, qualification, and production phases.

Analyze supplier engineering feedback and act as liaison between internal and external technical parties.

Review drawings from the supplier’s perspective to ensure they are complete and contain all required information.

Ensure clear and complete technical communication with suppliers.

Assist in maintaining supplier and part attributes in the ERP system as needed.

Manage supplier technical inquiries and ensure communication of engineering change orders and scope modifications as required.

Review technical aspects of requisitions and provide advice as subject matter expert.

Support the creation and release of new parts in the system.

Provide technical support for commodity management and purchasing in their assigned commodity group.

Support material failure analysis and root cause corrective actions (RCCA).

While maintaining focus on quality, delivery, and cost; provide consulting and support for supply chain critical needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.

7–10+ years working in supply chain or directly with purchasing.

5–7+ years working with aerospace components, instrumentation, and raw materials.

Working knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication, integration, and quality control relevant to fluid components (such as machining, inspection, assembly, testing, etc.).

Desire to establish and foster strong interdisciplinary relationships across the company.

Ability to travel to suppliers and other Firefly sites up to 25% of the time.

MS Office (including Excel, Word & Outlook).

Software operation and data entry skills.

Strong sense of urgency and prioritization of internal issues.

Proven experience working cross‑functionally and ability to influence across all levels.

Strong ability to handle and effectively prioritize multiple competing priorities and requests.

Valid “Real ID” driver’s license and clean driving record.

Ability to pass Air Force background checks.

Physical stamina to perform regular duties:

Lift, push, or pull at least 50 pounds.

Stand for long periods of time.

Crouch, bend, and reach.

Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent field.

Experience with industry standards such as ASTM, ASM, NASA and ISO.

Track record of innovation and delivering strategic business results in materials and component engineering solutions.

Odoo ERP/MRP knowledge.

Experience in the aerospace industry as an OEM, supplier, contractor, sub‑contractor.

Experience in engineering development, prototyping, and testing environment a plus.
