PS Engineer The PS Engineer is responsible for the facility's Process Safety to meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.119. Responsibilities include: Establishing safety procedures for working with dangerous chemicals. Evaluating equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Maintaining/updating the documentation supporting the facility implementation of the fourteen (14) elements of the Process Safety program. Gathering and centrally organizing information pertaining to all 14 elements of PSM. Organizing, updating, and executing PHAs, LOPAs, HAZOPs, etc. for all plant units. Acting as site subject matter expert on MOC process and assisting with PSSRs and process safety-related investigations. Assisting with the development and maintenance of written process safety information identifying workplace chemical and process hazards. Developing and implementing a point-of-use library containing all process safety information in accordance with OSHA 1910.119. Preparing compliance manuals as necessary. Tracking the status of recommendations against due dates and ensuring zero late action items. Managing the Management of Change Program, including tracking of change submittals and approvals. Participating in compliance audits for PS, including preparing for the audits. Assisting with process safety program administration, including training and conducting periodic internal audits. Performing workplace hazard assessments, including identification of potential sources of accidental releases. Consulting with affected employees and maintaining documentation supporting employee participation with the PSM program. Assisting Plant Operations with development of written operating procedures for chemical processes. Assisting with the performance of Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) of all newly installed or modified equipment. Conducting periodic audits of the PSM Program. Enlisting and training other department personnel to assist in the development and implementation of the PSM program elements. Assisting plant management with development of annual program implementation goals and providing periodic reports. Owning/managing various process safety-related site metrics, spreadsheets, and databases. Participating as an active member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Perform other related duties as assigned.
