DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Present research findings/presentations at lab meetings and scientific meetings or symposia. Prepare supporting scientific papers for publication. Attend division meetings and give presentations. Complete quarterly reports and annual progress reports. Prepare one first-author manuscript for publication per year. Use a computer to analyze data, prepare graphs, compute statistics, and write lab notes and reports. Conduct animal experiments to understand bacterial pathogenesis and the host immune response and to design vaccines and therapeutics. Perform ELISpot, Luminex/Magpix, and ELISA assays. Plan and assist in animal experiments; analyze animal immune profiles. Prepare BSL-2 and BSL-3 labs for safety, biosurety, and inspections (CDC, etc.). Assist in animal protocols conducted by other investigators. Complete bacterial opsonization assays to evaluate experimental vaccines and complete flow cytometric assays. Conduct equipment inventory management in BSL-2 and BSL-3 labs. Perform monthly laboratory management duties including safety functions and chemical inventory. Provide an immunological scientific support monthly report (materials and methods, data, and data analysis) by the last working day of the month. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

Ph.D. and significant research experience in immunology or vaccinology is required. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Technical writing skills. Experience working with animals. Previous publications/presentations in the scientific community. Experience preparing BSL-2/BSL-3 labs for inspections for biosurety, CDC and safety. REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE

U.S. Citizen Must pass NACI background check. Must be willing to work in a BSL-3 laboratory. Must be eligible to enroll in the BPRP and CS-PRP programs.
