Bacterial Immunology Lead Scientist
to support our government customer located in Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Present research findings/presentations at lab meetings, attend lab meetings, and attend scientific meetings or symposia. Prepare supporting scientific papers for publication. Attend division meetings per year and give presentation. Complete quarterly reports and annual progress report. Prepare one 1st author manuscript for publication per year. Use a computer to analyze data, prepare graphs, compute statistics, and write lab notes and reports. Conduct animal experiments to better understand bacterial pathogenesis and the host immune response and design vaccines and therapeutics. Perform ELIspot assays. Perform Luminex/Magpix assays. Run ELISAs. Plan and assist in animal experiments. Analyze animal immune profiles. Prepare BSL-2 and BSL-3 labs for Safety, Bio-surety and CDC inspections. Assist in animal protocols conducted by other investigators. Complete bacterial opsonization assays to evaluate experimental vaccines. Complete flowcytometric assays. Conduct Equipment Inventory Management in BSL-2 and BSL-3. Perform monthly Laboratory Management to include safety functions and chemical inventory. Provide Immunological Scientific Support monthly report by the last working day of the month. The report would include materials and methods, data and data analysis and should be updated monthly. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Ph.D and significant research experience in Immunology or vaccinology is required. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Technical writing skills. Experience working with animals. Previous publications/presentations in the scientific community. Experience preparing BSL 2/3 labs for inspections for Bio-surety, CDC and Safety. REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE: U.S. Citizen Must pass NACI background check. Must be willing to work in a BSL 3 laboratory. Must be eligible to enroll in the BPRP and CS-PRP programs.
