Responsibilities

Plan and perform engineering duties to support the design, development and delivery of major projects and/or high-complexity projects. Create new products or modify existing products; select materials; develop calculations, bills of materials, drawings and test plans.

Respond to customer requests for product changes and design submittals; guide technicians during fabrication. Lead project work with creativity and ingenuity, often under minimal supervision. May act as lead on projects guiding other engineers.

Develop schematics, bills of material and layouts for hydraulic and supporting electrical systems; produce detailed drawings for vendor-fabricated equipment such as reservoirs and other components.

Provide customer instructional tools including working schematics of hydraulic and electrical systems for fabrication and start-up, layouts and mounting instructions and dimensions; provide operating data such as oil pressure and flow settings and electrical point-to-point connections.

Provide technical guidance and assistance to staff across the company, including inside/outside sales, shop foremen and other shop personnel; assist with fitting and component selection, system layout, piping and fabrication practices.

Assist parts coordinator with conversions of unavailable components to meet deliveries; provide troubleshooting assistance and corrective action to fabricators during testing; perform field service supervision and startup assistance as required.

Participate in the quality improvement process; provide project management support including monitoring/updating budgets, suggesting technical improvements, implementing change orders, and coordinating subcontractors to maintain the project schedule.

Provide on-site technical support/field supervision to ensure work is performed properly and in a timely manner; maintain project documentation and collect sub-contractor field test data/reports to meet submittal requirements.

Attend weekly project status meetings to report progress and coordinate upcoming work with customers, contractors, subcontractors and tradespersons; respond to off-hour technical support calls.

Development of PLC-based control logic programming for various process control functions is a plus.

Education, Experience, Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably with hydraulic systems).

Ability to develop hydraulic schematics, select materials and guide technicians in fabricating hydraulic systems.

Understanding of relay logic for industrial control panel design, with ability to develop electrical schematics, select materials and guide technicians in fabricating control panels.

Proven attention to detail, excellent communication and customer service orientation.
