Active-duty service members . Responsibilities for this internship include: Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge) following DoDI guidance. During this program, the service member will perform an individual internship in an entry to mid-level role on-site at the host company, supporting a 40-hour work week. The program's Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes are outlined below. Goals:
Provide transitioning service members with job skills training during the final military commitment, with the potential to transition to full-time employment after the internship. Interns serve as a pipeline of motivated military candidates into NGC. Objectives:
Ensure interns are highly trained, capable, and aligned with NG's mission. The program offers professional development, networking, and training focused on NG leadership principles, company history, stakeholder engagement, product overview, and core responsibilities. Outcome:
Offer a rewarding opportunity for service members to join the Northrop Grumman team. Elkton, Maryland
location. The Elkton facility has a rich history in solid-propellant rocket operations and now designs, develops, and produces propulsion and ordnance systems for various government and commercial clients. The area offers scenic views and recreational activities. Position Summary
Performs non-destructive tests (NDT) on aerospace components, inspecting materials and assemblies for defects using various methods including radiography, ultrasound, and penetrant inspection. Certifications in NDT per regulations are required, including radiographic techniques like film, computed radiography, and computed tomography. Responsibilities
Operate X-radiation equipment, film processors, computed radiography scanners, and CT equipment Operate ultrasonic flaw detectors for pulse echo and angle beam inspections Perform dye penetrant tests and interpret results Maintain certifications in radiography, ultrasound, and penetrant methods Receive guidance from certified Level 2 or 3 NDT technicians This position can be filled at Level 1 or 2 depending on experience and competency. Basic Qualifications for NDT Level 1
High School Diploma or GED Experience as an industrial NDT technician 2+ years in manufacturing or quality control Ability to pass vision tests per NAS 410 Strong mathematical skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook Effective communication skills in English Availability for overtime and weekend work; possible second shift U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance Meets DoD SkillBridge qualifications Preferred Qualifications for NDT Level 1
Experience with aerospace manufacturing and quality assurance Knowledge of engineering drawings and specifications 1+ years in training toward NDT certification with documented records Basic Qualifications for NDT Level 2
High School Diploma or GED Current or previous Level 2 NDT certification with 2+ years experience Strong math skills including algebra Proficiency with MS Office Effective communication skills in English Ability to interpret codes and standards Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs Availability for overtime and second shift U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance Meets DoD SkillBridge qualifications Preferred Qualifications for NDT Level 2
Experience in aerospace NDT Current certification per ASNT or NAS 410 in at least two methods Experience with non-film radiography Familiarity with quality systems like AS9100 and NADCAP This role requires a Federal Explosives License; candidates will need to complete an Employee Possessor Questionnaire for ATF approval. Salary Range: $43,700 - $72,900, and $51,900 - $86,500 depending on experience. Northrop Grumman offers comprehensive benefits, overtime, bonuses, and other incentives.
