Job Summary Responsible for the delivery of radiation therapy treatment as prescribed by the radiation oncologist, daily maintenance and quality assurance checks for the equipment, maintenance of the inventory of department supplies, and administrative quality assurance checks as assigned.

Responsibilities

Administers radiation therapy treatment accurately and safely.

Responsible for the safe and accurate utilization of all aspects of the EMR and Record and Verify system.

Positions, immobilizes and aligns patients according to the treatment plan and effectively evaluate and assist in solving setup issues.

Assists the Lead Radiation Therapist to develop new techniques or resolve clinical problems.

Utilizes the Quality Assurance (QA) program to encompass all aspects of treatment, treatment delivery and quality patient care.

Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development from all life stages, ranging from infancy to geriatric.

Qualifications

Education Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy required or Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy preferred

Licenses and Credentials Radiation Therapist [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Radiation Therapy [ARRT-T] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred Radiation Therapist [Temporary License - Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Department of Public Health-Radiation Control Program preferred

Experience Clinical internship in a major cancer center 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation, tools and procedures specific to assigned area, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families. Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving issues and conflict. Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information. Must be proficient in the use of the Radiation Oncology Information Systems and software and Hospital Information Systems that integrate with the Department of Radiation Oncology, including, but not limited to: ARIA, EPIC, ExacTrac, Eclipse.
