Job Details: Job Overview: The Automation Technician at the Hatchery is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated systems and equipment used in hatchery operations. This role ensures that automation systems operate efficiently and reliably, supporting optimal production and adherence to quality and safety standards. The technician collaborates with maintenance teams, production staff, and external vendors to improve system performance and reduce downtime. Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on automated hatchery equipment, including incubators, conveyors, robotic systems, and monitoring devices.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with mechanical, electrical, and control systems to minimize downtime.

Monitor and calibrate equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with operational standards.

System Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve the performance of automated systems and recommend upgrades or modifications.

Analyze equipment performance data to ensure optimal efficiency and productivity.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement process improvements.

Installation and Setup: Assist in the installation, configuration, and programming of new automated equipment.

Ensure proper integration of systems with existing infrastructure.

Conduct testing and validation of equipment after installation or upgrades.

Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.

Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Update technical manuals, schematics, and system documentation as needed.

Training and Support: Train hatchery staff on the proper use and care of automated systems.

Provide technical support to operators and production teams to address equipment-related issues.

Act as a resource for troubleshooting and preventive maintenance best practices.

Safety and Quality: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with automated equipment and tools.

Identify and mitigate risks associated with automation systems to maintain a safe working environment.

Ensure that equipment operates in compliance with biosecurity and animal welfare standards.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certification in automation, robotics, or a related field is preferred.

2+ years of experience working with automated systems, preferably in a hatchery, agricultural, or manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

Familiarity with PLC programming, robotics, and automation technologies.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.

Basic understanding of biosecurity and hatchery operations is a plus.

Preferred Skills: Experience with specific hatchery automation equipment, such as egg setters, transfer systems, or chick separators.

Knowledge of industrial control systems and HMI interfaces.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a hatchery environment with varying temperatures, humidity levels, and noise levels.

Capable of standing, bending, and performing physical tasks for extended periods.

Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Flexibility to work on-call or extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
