Overview
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit the EDRP application within four months of appointment. Eligibility
Applicants must be a United States citizen. Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a VA approved school. Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia. Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty leading to board certification (ACGME or AOA). Residents in accepted programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on an intermittent or fee‑basis. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred: Pain board certification, American Board of Anesthesiology certification or eligibility, academic appointment at Emory University School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology, commitment to public service, teaching and quality improvement experience, strong work ethic, and ability to communicate professionally with a wide variety of people. Physical requirements: ability to perform rapid mental and muscular coordination, assist with lifting patients, perform pain procedures including interventional pain procedures, and emotional/mental stability. Duties
Evaluate pain patients in outpatient and inpatient settings. Perform interventional pain procedures (epidural, radiofrequency ablation, joint injections, sympathetic blocks, neurolytic blocks, spinal cord stimulator therapy, intrathecal pump therapy, etc.). Manage acute, inpatient, and cancer pain, including consultation and regional anesthesia techniques. Provide general anesthesia services on an as‑needed basis. Screen pain consultations and provide general anesthesia services as needed. Participate in clinical teaching of medical students, residents, fellows, and other providers. Benefits
