GEI’s Rancho Cordova, CA office is seeking a motivated entry level civil engineer with working knowledge of AutoCAD to assist with complex and challenging projects in Northern California and throughout the United States. The GEI Rancho Cordova engineering practice provides services on a wide range of water resource projects including pipelines, canals, pump station, dams, spillways, levees, water storage, and water recharge. The position will support ongoing engineering planning, design, and construction management for these projects.
Candidates will support senior staff on a variety of engineering projects, mainly focused on water resource facilities and hydraulic structures (dams, spillways, outlet works, levees, and piped and channeled conveyance), design support for other heavy civil/geotechnical projects, reinforced concrete structure design, preparing construction drawings and specifications, construction cost estimating, design implementation and report preparation.
Provide AutoCAD support to ongoing projects
Support evaluation and design efforts as part of a team by performing civil engineering modeling, drawing take-offs, analysis, and design calculations
Prepare technical memos, reports, technical specifications and other written documentation
Prepare cost estimates, schedules, construction plans and documents, and monitor construction activities in the field
Work under the leadership and mentoring of licensed professional engineers
Perform field work as needed to support projects
Provide support to proposal efforts
Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel. Potentially work out of area on temporary assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in Civil Engineering.
EIT Certification strongly preferred but not required
0 to 4 years experience
Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member
Excellent computer skills and proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Ability to successfully formulate and execute technical assignments with minimal oversight and direction; desire to acquire and apply new skills and techniques with application to project assignments
Willing to perform field work as required
Must have a valid driver's license
