Beamline scientist at the nano-analysis beamline ID16B
Beamline scientist at the nano-analysis beamline ID16B
At a glance Job title: Beamline scientist at the nano-analysis beamline ID16B Ref.: 25-42-T-EXP-XNP Contract type: Time-limited contract Publication start on Intranet: 10/07/2025 Contract duration: Time limited contract of 5 years Beamline ID16B at the ESRF is a state-of-the-art instrument dedicated to hard X-ray nano-analysis. It combines several advanced techniques—X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), X-ray excited optical luminescence (XEOL and time-resolved XEOL), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and 3D/4D X-ray nano-imaging (nano-CT). Operating across a wide energy range (6 to 33 keV) with a beam size routinely reaching 50 nanometres, ID16B supports cutting-edge research in fields such as environmental science, biology, geoscience, and materials science. Thanks to a variety of sample environments (furnaces, cryostats, electrochemical cells, etc.), the beamline offers unique in situ nano-analysis capabilities. As a Beamline Scientist, you will be at the forefront of scientific and technical developments at ID16B. Your responsibilities will include: D eveloping your own research programme, making the most of ID16B’s unique capabilities in close collaboration with the beamline team and scientific partners Acting as a local contact for visiting researchers and supporting experiments with high scientific and societal impact in areas such as biomedicine, materials science, energy technologies, and nanoscience. Develop and implement methods and studies for nano-spectroscopy techniques including XEOL and TR_XEOL. Interested? For more information, please contact:
