The Controls Engineer III is responsible for identifying, programming, and configuring machine controllers and integrating them with Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platforms. This role involves managing the deployment of automation systems, troubleshooting complex communication issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive digital transformation programs. The individual in this position will utilize their expertise in industrial automation and IIoT systems to ensure successful implementation, integration, and optimization of automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and select machine controllers, protocols, and compatible OT hardware for IIoT applications integration
• Program and configure control systems, including Siemens PLCs, Allen-Bradley PLCs, and CNC controllers
• Manage IIoT projects from planning through implementation, ensuring milestones and timelines are met
• Integrate Robots, Cobots, IMR’s, and AGV with IIoT platforms
• Develop technical documentation, including system designs, integration plans, and user manuals for IIoT systems
• Troubleshoot communication issues between machines, PLCs, and IIoT systems
• Perform root cause analysis for network or connectivity failures and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues
• Ensure secure IIoT systems by applying knowledge of networking protocols, VLANs, and network security practices
• Drive digital transformation and Industry 4.0 solutions, including data analytics, AI, and ML technologies
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering, control systems engineering, automation, instrumentation, mechatronics, computer science, or a related field
• Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in industrial automation, IIoT systems, PLC programming, and IoT integrations
• In-depth knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA/DA, MQTT, REST API, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus
• Strong knowledge of industrial networking protocols and IP configuration, routing, VLANs, and network security
• Expertise in Industry 4.0 and IIoT platforms, including data analytics platforms like Power BI, AI, and ML technologies
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with integration of tightening tools controllers like Atlas Copco, DC tools, and Desouter
• Expertise in data governance principles and regulatory compliance in IIoT systems
• Experience in cross-functional roles and stakeholder management
