Quality Laboratory Technician
will work out of our Brownwood Texas manufacturing facility and report to the Quality Assurance Manager. The key responsibilities and duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Receive a shift hand off from laboratory technician, including any issues and items to look out for, as well as information on products that are currently running. Review all data from previous shift to ensure all items are logged and documented properly. Perform daily verifications on laboratory equipment (Leco, NIR, Water activity meter, etc.). Collect samples from designated locations. Perform analytical testing on samples collected. Document analytical testing results in designated locations (GA Data Base, QA Report). Communicate with extruder operators on testing results and any readings out of specification (GA’s, color, size). Notate corrective actions made by operators. Perform microbiological testing on products for release. Verify Bill of Lading for incoming commodity, purchase order, attached COA, and correct seal numbers. Collect samples of incoming raw materials and perform mycotoxin testing to ensure raw materials are within specification. Communicate with receiving operators on acceptance or rejection of incoming commodity. Weekly documentation of laboratory inventory. Knowledge of all Critical Control Points. Adhere to all safety and GMP policies. Continuous education on trending topics in the pet food industry. Sterilize all equipment before and after usage. Maintain a clean and organized retention and shelf-life study room. Successfully cross-train to assist in multiple areas. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Must be willing to submit to a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Must be eligible to work in the US. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 2 to 3 years of experience in quality control, food safety, or similar fields. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Strong computer and statistical analysis skills. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ability to push, pull, carry, or lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours. Ascend/descend a ladder or stairs daily. Ability to operate a computer and other office technology. Occasionally position self to access low spaces. Ability to observe details at close range. Must be able to relay accurate information via multiple communication vehicles, including verbal and written mechanisms. Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures.
