The purpose of this position is to create a safe, enjoyable, and enriching experience for children participating in our summer day camp program at the Tri-Cities Corps. Staff members facilitate activities, ensure camper well-being, foster a positive environment, promote teamwork, and adhere to safety guidelines, while also supporting spiritual, social, and educational development through recreational activities. Responsibilities
Demonstrate a passion for working with children in a learning environment. Assist in teaching music instruments and music theory. Supervise and care for children in educational, enrichment, and recreational settings. Provide encouraging instruction during group activities. Ensure safety during arrival, dismissal, and transitions. Support the planning and teaching of lessons, homework, and activities with the Director or Group Leader. Maintain discipline and encourage rule-following. Assist with setup, cleanup, and opening/closing of the facility. Help coordinate field trips. Maintain a safe environment. Qualifications
Knowledge of musical instruments and ability to teach music theory. Ability to work with diverse backgrounds. Valid California Driver's License. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and desktop publishing. Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, reach overhead, operate a phone, and lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to process written, visual, and verbal information. Qualified individuals may request accommodations to meet physical requirements. The Salvation Army will consider such requests to avoid undue hardship.
