Basic Purpose
The purpose of this position is to create a safe, enjoyable, and enriching experience for children participating in our summer day camp program of the Tri-Cities Corps. Staff members play a crucial role in facilitating activities, ensuring camper well-being, fostering a positive environment, engaging with campers, promoting teamwork, and adhering to safety guidelines. They also provide spiritual development, social guidance, and educational reinforcement through recreational activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate a passion for working with children in a learning environment.
Teach music instruments and music theory.
Assist with supervision, guidance, and caring for children in educational, enrichment, and recreational settings.
Provide encouraging instruction during group activities.
Supervise camper safety during arrival, dismissal, and transition periods.
Assist the Director or Group Leader in planning, teaching lessons, supporting homework, and activities.
Help maintain discipline and encourage children to follow rules.
Assist in setting up and cleaning the program area and opening/closing the facility.
Maintain a safe environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualifications
Knowledge of music instruments, ability to teach music instruments and music theory.
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and basic desktop publishing programs.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must pass a criminal background check, including DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously.
Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects.
Ability to reach overhead.
Ability to operate a telephone and computer.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Ability to process written, visual, and verbal information.
Ability to operate basic office equipment.
