Data Center Electrical Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a skilled
Data Center Electrical Engineer
to support the
build and delivery phase
of large-scale, mission-critical data center projects. This role will focus on
design coordination, construction oversight, testing, and commissioning
of electrical infrastructure to ensure high-performance, reliable, and scalable power systems are delivered to specification.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical experience in power systems, strong project delivery capability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with design teams, contractors, and commissioning partners in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all electrical engineering aspects during the
design and build phase
of data center projects.
Review design documentation, single-line diagrams, load schedules, and technical submittals to ensure compliance with project and client standards.
Coordinate with design consultants, general contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues during construction.
Manage the installation and testing of electrical systems, including switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, busways, and standby generators.
Conduct
factory acceptance tests (FATs)
and
site acceptance tests (SATs)
for major electrical equipment.
Support and supervise
commissioning activities (Levels 1-5)
to ensure system performance, reliability, and redundancy.
Develop and review
Method of Procedure (MOP) ,
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) , and
Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP)
documents for build handover.
Monitor construction progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective measures to maintain quality and schedule.
Ensure all work complies with safety, quality, and industry standards – including
NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC , and
Uptime Institute
guidelines.
Collaborate closely with mechanical, controls, and operations teams to deliver integrated, fully commissioned data centers ready for handover.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in
data center or mission-critical facility design and construction .
Proven knowledge of electrical distribution systems (LV, MV, HV), redundancy design (N+1, 2N), and emergency power systems.
Experience managing contractors and vendors on active construction sites.
Proficient in design and analysis tools (AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of commissioning processes and documentation.
Excellent coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a high-pressure, schedule-driven build environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Preferred Certifications
Professional Engineer (PE) License or equivalent.
LEED Accredited Professional.
PMP (Project Management Professional).
Uptime Institute or DCPro Certification.
OSHA Electrical Safety Certification.
