We are seeking a seasoned and visionary Power Engineer to lead the power and electrical design for our Data Center infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing and delivering the power infrastructure that enables AI-scale compute. This includes overseeing the entire electrical power stack including grid interconnection, switchgear, UPS, BESS, PDUs, and on-site generation. The ideal candidate will be regarded as the in-house technical power and electrical expert, ensuring the reliability, resilience, and scalability of the Data Center’s power systems, while also pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, this is an opportunity to work in a collaborative team where technical leadership of initiatives will be expected to achieve high quality outcomes. Responsibilities:
Lead electrical engineering team through design, construction, and operation phases. Own engagements with regional transmission organizations (RTOs), independent system operators (ISOs), and utility providers to secure and optimize grid interconnections for current and future capacity. Evaluate and implement on-site generation technologies (e.g., gas turbines, fuel cells, solar + storage) and support the integration of renewable energy to align with sustainability goals and regulatory requirements. Architect the power delivery roadmap, including HV/MV/LV systems, redundancy, and scalability. Establish power and electrical design governance through development and enforcement of internal standards, templates, and repeatable design patterns for power and electrical systems across multiple geographies to ensure consistency, code compliance, and design efficiency. Oversee capacity planning, load balancing, fault tolerance, and real-time monitoring initiatives. Collaborate with utilities, EPCs, and OEMs for service contracts and infrastructure execution. Define and execute strategies to enhance power system uptime, including redundancy architecture (N+1, 2N, etc.), arc flash mitigation, fault isolation, and recovery plans. Implement advanced SCADA systems, predictive analytics, and real-time data monitoring to improve electrical performance, support diagnostics, and reduce mean time to recovery (MTTR). Work closely with hardware and systems teams to align facility power delivery capabilities with the evolving demands of AI workloads (e.g., high-power GPUs, liquid-cooled servers). Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., solid-state transformers, DC distribution, smart switchgear) and develop strategies for phased deployment, lifecycle planning, and tech refresh. Set standards for safety, commissioning, maintenance, and operational handover. Requirements:
BSEE or equivalent, PE license strongly preferred. 12+ years in data center, energy, or heavy infrastructure environments. Expertise in 2N/3N power architecture, fault tree analysis, and arc flash mitigation. Strong grounding in compliance frameworks (e.g. NEC, IEEE, IEC). Experience with hyperscale or GPU-accelerated environments. Strong communicator with leadership experience. Bonus: Experience in rapid expansion of on-site power systems to support data center demand. Seniority level
