University of Virginia
Research Associate in Electrical and Computer Engineering
University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, United States, 22904
Overview
The University of Virginia, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is seeking applicants for a post-doctoral associate to work in the Computational Biomedical Imaging Group. The research involves developing machine learning algorithms and MR pulse sequences for next-generation computational MRI. The work will be conducted in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and the Radiology Research Laboratory, which houses several 3T and 1.5T Siemens scanners. The position will provide a unique opportunity to work on the cutting edge of deep learning and signal processing to exploit state-of-the-art MRI hardware. The work will involve a good mix of theory, algorithm development, sequence programming, and validation. Potential candidates may look up our recent publications to get a flavor for our research.
Responsibilities
Develop machine learning algorithms and MR pulse sequences for next-generation computational MRI.
Engage in theory, algorithm development, sequence programming, and validation.
Collaborate with the group and facilities to test and validate methods on MRI data and scanners.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or applied mathematics is required by the start date.
Experience in signal processing, machine learning, and MRI is desirable.
Candidates with experience in NIH-funded areas on high-resolution brain relaxometry, free-breathing cardiac MRI, and MR spectroscopic imaging using machine learning are encouraged to apply.
Application Procedure Apply online at the UVA jobs site and search for R0075523. Attach a cover letter, CV/resume, and contact information for three references (name, email address, telephone number, and mailing address). Please note that multiple documents can be uploaded in the box.
Application Deadline Review of applications will begin on August 22, 2025, but the position will remain open until filled. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.
Appointment Details This is a one-year appointment; however, the appointment may be renewed for an additional two, one-year increments, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
