Job Summary As a Building Engineer, you will carry out our mission to improve the experience of aging together by maintaining the continuous operation of the boiler room and associated plant equipment, including HVAC systems, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Responsibilities

Boiler Operation: Operate and monitor the boiler room and HVAC equipment per manufacturers’ specifications, minimize downtime, avoid inconvenience to in‑house customers, and extend equipment life expectancy. Read meters and gauges to verify operation conditions and maintain equipment room logbooks.

Equipment Operation: Operate and monitor the emergency generator according to NFPA regulations, operate water treatment system and other closed‑loop building systems, and ensure proper cooling tower and air handler operation.

Equipment Repairs: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment and components; interpret schematics and manifolds; create parts orders.

Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance on boiler and other plant equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, pumps, motors, etc.

Inspections: Prepare for boiler inspections by opening boilers; perform boiler cleaning, refractory patching or repair; close boilers after inspection and develop corrective plans.

General Maintenance Repairs: Perform plumbing repairs, electrical repairs, carpentry duties, exterior grounds work, and other assigned work orders.

Life Safety: Comply with all safety programs and procedures; provide support during emergency disaster situations; maintain a safe, neat, and productive work environment.

Other Duties: Perform exterior grounds work, snow/ice removal, and drive company vehicles as required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

3rd Grade Stationary Engineer License (2nd Grade preferred)

3 years boiler experience as an operating engineer

Valid driver’s license

Valid

3rd Grade Stationary Engineer License

(2nd Grade preferred)

Experience in the healthcare industry preferred

May be required to attend seminars/training classes to improve performance and ability.
