Job Summary
The Cybersecurity Engineer Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the security posture of the university's IT infrastructure. This includes safeguarding data, networks, and systems against cyber threats while ensuring compliance with security policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and manages continuous security monitoring framework to detect and respond to security incidents in real‑time.
- Utilizes SIEM tools to analyze security logs and alerts.
- Oversees the implementation and management of endpoint protection solutions.
- Ensures compliance with security policies and best practices for endpoint devices.
- Participates in information security incident response efforts, ensuring incident identification, assessment, reporting, communication, mitigation, and monitoring. Consults with users regarding cybersecurity problems and assists with resolution.
- Performs threat management, threat modeling, identifies threat vectors and develops use cases for security monitoring.
- Creates reports, dashboards and metrics of security related events.
- Assists in the development of and direction of programs with the IT Security Office. Assists with the development and review of operational procedures, policies, and standards.
- Analyzes security vulnerability reports and develops a plan to mitigate critical vulnerabilities.
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure a cohesive approach to security across the organization.
- Ensures compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., PCI, HIPAA, FERPA, etc.).
- Maintains current knowledge of cybersecurity topics, trends, and technologies. Assists in the selection, evaluation, and testing of new security tools, technology, and services.
- Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a computer related field and eight (8) years of related experience; OR twelve (12) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with the application security concepts, penetration testing techniques, and incident forensics.
- Experience and understanding of the following security domains: access control, network security, software development security, security architecture and design, cryptography, and operations security.
- Practical and operational experience with network, endpoint detection response (EDR), and cloud security.
- Experience with network, host and email Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies.
- Experience analyzing assets, identifying, and remediating vulnerabilities.
- Experience with scripting languages to automate and investigate routine functions.
- Practical and operational experience with SIEM products.
- Experience in content development, log source onboarding, and/or maintenance of Splunk.
- Strong knowledge of application monitoring and event management.
- Experience with vulnerability management software. Strong understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
