Responsibilities
- Develop detailed manufacturing plans for new programs requiring new equipment or retools.
- Prepare sourcing activities from RFQ to PO for major outside tooling and equipment purchases.
- Gather product information, production rates, and assembly requirements from customer contacts.
- Train and support equipment operators during launches; provide reference and support resources.
- Maintain process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
- Monitor and support plant equipment installation and launch.
- Review sourcing activities from RFQ to PO for tooling and equipment purchases.
- Work with PC&L team to optimize material flow to the production line.
- Understand Android operations (sequencing, subassembly, shipping and receiving).
- Ensure equipment certification and run-off; provide feedback and escalate issues to leadership.
- Ensure proper Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Coordinate with Plant team to transfer lessons learned, best practices, and goals into new production processes.
- Coordinate program change requests.
- Provide Manufacturing Engineering guidance to improve throughput, reduce scrap/rework, reduce cost, and improve quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with Quality Engineer to drive PFMEA, Control Plans, error-proofing, and ensure robust Manufacturing System.
- Promote health and safety in all phases of engineering and launch.
- Maintain equipment records and update databases; protect confidential information.
- Collaborate in a team environment and develop others; lead and mentor where applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in assembly and/or manufacturing; 2+ years of experience with APQP systems.
- Supervisory experience in manufacturing is preferred.
Travel
Travel Required: Minimal
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- General understanding of manufacturing processes and Android operations (sequencing, sub-assembly, shipping/receiving, tooling).
- Strong knowledge of tooling, equipment, automation, engineering specifications, and cost reduction in automotive assembly.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities for unusual/difficult problems.
- Strong decision-making skills; ability to grasp technical concepts quickly.
- Proficiency with GD&T, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with manufacturing, engineering, and leadership teams.
- Working knowledge of IATF quality system.
- Computer proficiency (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); AutoCAD is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
