Job Summary

Development of assembly processes based on customer requirements, quality systems, financial investment and labor plans. Manage the implementation of new processes, selection of equipment to be purchased, and timing estimates. Resolve issues with quality plans, product design, manufacturability, or build process steps. Participate in adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency. Consult on and oversee selection and implementation of automation and robotics in assembly processes. Manage activities using the Process Development System according to the developed ME timeline.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed manufacturing plans for new programs that require new equipment or retooling of existing equipment.
  • Prepare sourcing activities from RFQ to PO for major outside tooling and equipment purchases (e.g., continuity testers, alignment equipment, balancers, uniformity equipment).
  • Gather relevant product information, production rates, and assembly requirements from customer contacts.
  • Prepare equipment operators for launches by assisting the launch team with training and providing reference and support resources.
  • Maintain process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Monitor and support plant equipment installation and launch.
  • Collaborate with PC&L to optimize material flow to the production line.
  • Understand Android operations (sequencing, subassembly, shipping and receiving).
  • Ensure equipment certification and run-off; provide feedback and escalate issues to leadership as needed.
  • Promote proper OEE and continuous improvement of processes.
  • Coordinate program change requests and ensure lessons learned and best practices are integrated into new production processes.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering guidance to improve throughput, reduce scrap/rework, reduce cost, and improve quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineer to drive PFMEA, control plans, and error-proofing into design and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain documentation and confidentiality of information; protect organizational value.
  • Work effectively in a team, lead and develop people, and contribute to continuous improvement across the business.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in assembly and/or manufacturing; 2+ years of experience with APQP.
  • Supervisory experience in manufacturing is preferred.

Travel

Travel Required: Minimal

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • General understanding of manufacturing processes and Android operations (sequencing, subassembly, shipping and receiving, tooling).
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, equipment, automation, engineering specifications, and cost reduction in automotive assembly applications.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities for unusual and difficult problems.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to grasp technical concepts quickly.
  • Proficiency with GD&T, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Strong oral and written communication; interpersonal skills to work with all team members and leadership.
  • Working knowledge of IATF quality system.
  • Computer proficiency (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
