A growing aerospace manufacturer north of Seattle is seeking a hands‑on Manufacturing Engineer to support their expansion into a new assembly facility. This is a high‑impact role focused on continuous improvement and process optimization within a metal component assembly environment.

As the company scales operations due to new contract awards, you’ll play a key role in bringing structure to a currently disorganized production space, helping design and implement efficient workflows, tooling, and training. You’ll be involved in everything from layout planning to troubleshooting issues on the shop floor—this is not a desk‑only job.

Your initial focus will be in the Assembly department, but your reach may expand into other areas of the operation over time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate and improve assembly processes for efficiency, quality, and cost
  • Walk the floor to analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and test best practices
  • Collaborate with Operations, Planning, Engineering, and Quality teams to drive improvement
  • Lead or support layout design for new work centers and overall shop organization
  • Develop and revise work instructions, visual aids, and training documentation
  • Design and test tooling/fixtures for improved assembly and fabrication workflows
  • Research and recommend automation tools, equipment, or systems to optimize throughput
  • Act as the lead for new startup projects related to Assembly processes
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and 5S to reduce waste and improve efficiency
  • Assist with hands‑on assembly/fabrication during pilot runs and method testing
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with metal component assembly
  • Proven background in continuous improvement and hands‑on process optimization
  • 3+ years of Lean Manufacturing and 5S experience (required)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (2D layouts required; 3D design familiarity preferred)
  • Technical experience with assembly and fabrication equipment
  • Comfortable working in a high‑paced, disorganized environment and bringing clarity
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams
  • Willingness to be on the floor, not just behind a desk

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience supporting aerospace or high‑spec manufacturing environments
