Sierra Central Credit Union
The Vice President of Human Resources (VPHR) will lead the HR function across the organization, developing and implementing initiatives that support business objectives. This role focuses on enhancing organizational effectiveness, fostering a positive work culture, and ensuring compliance with employment laws.
Essential Functions
Develop and execute the HR strategy in alignment with organizational goals.
Implement employee engagement programs to enhance morale and productivity.
Oversee all HR administrative functions including records retention, leave management, and compliance.
Foster a positive work environment by addressing employee concerns and ensuring compliance with all HR laws and regulations, including California wage and hour laws.
Oversee payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate processing, managing deductions, calculating wages, and ensuring tax compliance.
Monitor key metrics and provide data insights to inform decisions and improve HR operations.
Manage and maintain the HRIS, extracting, analyzing, and interpreting HR reports and data.
Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures for consistency and compliance across the organization.
Ensure the employee handbook and hiring materials are legally compliant and updated annually.
Identify opportunities for organizational improvement and work with leadership to implement change‑management strategies.
Drive talent initiatives, including talent acquisition, onboarding, and performance management.
Design and oversee competitive compensation and benefits programs.
Evaluate and recommend changes to existing compensation structures to maintain market competitiveness.
Lead the annual benefits renewal process, suggesting enhancements or cost‑saving measures.
Serve as the plan administrator for the 401(k) plan.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Required Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly.
Strong analytical skills and ability to assess situations and develop actionable solutions.
Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Ability to develop HR strategies that align with business objectives.
Ability to resolve complex employee issues and manage conflict effectively.
Familiarity with various HRIS software and functionalities.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or a related field.
SPHR/PHR, SHRM‑CP, or SCP certification preferred.
Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
Extensive knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and influence others.
Physical Requirements
Continuous sitting or standing for 7 hours per day.
Intermittent bending and walking for 1 hour per day.
Must be able to lift, carry, and/or push objects up to 25 pounds.
