Role Overview The Life Extension 2 (LE2) team is an organization within the greater FBM program supporting the development of the Next Generation System by developing concepts, researching, and maturing technologies to support the next FBM Missile System. As a Mechanical and Propulsion Engineering Asc. Manager you will lead a team of thermal‑fluids analysts to support the design of a complex propulsion system. You will drive integration with multiple IPTs, ensure close collaboration to provide a sound technical solution, and oversee the analysis teams’ execution, schedule, budget, subcontracts, and personnel. Your team will be responsible for ensuring the system can successfully execute the mission.
Responsibilities • Lead a thermal‑fluids analysis team to design complex propulsion systems. • Drive technical integration with multiple IPTs and maintain collaboration for a cohesive solution. • Manage analysis team execution, schedule, budget, subcontracts, and personnel. • Ensure the system meets mission success criteria.
Basic Qualifications
Demonstrated experience leading a team as a technical lead, LM L‑Code lead, or similar management role
3+ years experience in aerospace design or analysis or equivalent
Experience with flight hardware or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance; ship required
Desired Skills
Experience as a propulsion, fluids, or thermal analyst
Experience with CFD (ANSYS FLUENT)
Experience developing models from the ground up (first principles)
Highly effective communication skills, including ability to explain complex concepts, lead reviews, and negotiate requirements
Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and tackle numerous roles as part of daily program operations
Willingness to wear multiple hats and do whatever is needed to help your team succeed
Prior experience implementing change initiatives
Understanding and experience with drawing release
Experience with any of the following software: MATLAB / Simulink, Python, Thermal Desktop, ANSYS, Pointwise, Spaceclaim, GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket

Salary and Benefits Pay Rate:
Annual base salary range
for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 – $184,115. For other states, the salary range will reflect the candidate’s final work location.
