EDS (Electrical Distribution Systems) Prototype Harness Development Technician
We are seeking a skilled Wire Harness Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in wire harness assembly and will support the production, retrofitting, and testing of wire harnesses. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and proficiency with electrical schematics and various wiring tools. You will also be responsible for maintaining lab spaces, managing inventory, and providing feedback during prototype vehicle builds at different Ford facilities.
What You’ll Be Able To Do:
Produce and retrofit wire harnesses based on 2D drawings, electrical schematics, and detailed work instructions.
Procure wire harness parts and materials from online vendors and manage inventory effectively.
Support harness quality inspections using component or harness drawings.
Maintain a well‑organized lab space, including the organization of materials, tools, and equipment.
Keep accurate records of work performed, including wiring diagrams, test results, and any repairs or modifications made to the wiring harness.
Travel to support prototype vehicle builds at different Ford facilities, troubleshoot issues, and provide accurate feedback to engineers on problems encountered.
Minimum Requirements:
Previous work experience in a similar role (1‑3 years typically).
Experience with harness assembly in specific industries such as automotive or aerospace is a plus.
Proficiency with wire harness assembly, including cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering wires.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
Familiarity with tools such as crimpers, soldering irons, wire strippers, and multimeters.
Knowledge of different wire types, connectors, and terminal types.
Experience testing wire harnesses for continuity, insulation, and functionality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage inventory and lab space effectively.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide detailed feedback during prototype builds.
Ability to travel to various facilities and adapt to new challenges as needed.
Estimated Min Rate: $30.00
Estimated Max Rate: $50.00
