The Neuropsychiatry Discovery department at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a

Scientist, Neuropsychiatry , located in San Diego, CA, USA.

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative researcher, who will actively engage and contribute to discovery efforts to support the Johnson & Johnson Neuropsychiatry strategy. This individual will be responsible for advancing research initiatives and supporting pipeline programs by applying their expertise and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Designs, performs, and interprets biochemical, cellular, and molecular biology experiments.

Creatively develops and troubleshoots experimental protocols.

Reworks experiments and/or analyses based on emerging literature.

Prepares and records experimental reports that include methods, materials, raw data, analyses, graphs, and conclusions in an electronic laboratory notebook.

Follows laboratory safety and data integrity guidelines.

Presents experimental results during group and project team meetings.

Collaborates effectively with cross‑department team members and mentors more junior colleagues.

Qualifications – Education Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience OR a Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or a similar field.

Experience and Skills (Required)

Solid understanding and broad experience with molecular and cellular biology techniques, cell culture, and functional assay development.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.

Critical thinking and analytical skills to interpret sophisticated information.

Problem‑solving skills to identify and address challenges proactively.

Good project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong sense of urgency and efficient, flexible attitude.

Preferred

Expertise in Neuroscience, especially in Neuropsychiatry.

Knowledge of drug development and pharmacology principles.

Experience with in‑vitro modeling of brain disorders.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

$89,000 - $143,750.
