PRN opportunity at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist for a qualified Surgical Vascular Technologist. JOB SUMMARY: Assists in the performance of endovascular surgical procedures by utilizing equipment and employing techniques and procedures that are age appropriate and in accordance with the accepted standards of practice. Demonstrates expertise in limiting radiation exposure to patients and other members of the health care team. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (or Two-Year Professional Program) from an approved school of Radiologic Technology. Completion of Special Procedures Training Program or one year experience as a technologist in Special Procedures. Completion of one week sterile technique training program to be provided by the OR education coordinator. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required. CPR certification required - BLS. ACLS certification preferred Registered Cardiovascular-Interventional Technologist (ARRT-CV) preferred. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensures readiness of emergency equipment and supplies. Recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential emergency situations. Provides technologist coverage for 24-hour emergency endovascular surgical services. Performs or assists in performing procedures and/or diagnostic tests and/or therapeutic exams, as well as maintains files and compiles records according to procedure as required for accurate and current departmental records and/or reports. Provides instruction, education and consultation to health care personnel and patients to promote and improve quality patient care and maintains appropriate education/credentials to accomplish work objectives. Performs routine analysis on imaging equipment to assure proper working conditions and a minimum of downtime. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Good oral, written, and listening communication skills Ability to work independently and prioritize clinical responsibilities Ability to navigate multiple computer systems Training skills Knowledge of vascular anatomy WORK ENVIRONMENT: Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases Regular exposure to the risk of bloodborne diseases Possible exposure to toxic chemicals Regular exposure to low-level radiation Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances Subject to varying and unpredictable situations Handles emergency or crisis situations May perform emergency care Subject to long irregular hours Requires judgment action which could result in the death of a patient Required protective equipment including eye protection, face protection, gown, lead apron, mask, sterile and non-sterile medical gloves Pay Range $32.45 - $48.70
