Job Description
This is a remote position. Overview : We are looking for a hands-on Cloud Engineer who can design, deploy, and optimize our cloud infrastructure from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge across major cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) and a practical mindset for cost efficiency, scalability, and automation. This role involves both architecture and implementation — you will estimate infrastructure sizing and cost, set up CI/CD environments, and design scripts or automation routines to scale services up or down based on usage.
Key Responsibilities :
Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure.
Estimate resource sizing and prepare cost projections for various workload scenarios.
Automate infrastructure provisioning using IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates).
Develop scripts (Python / Bash / PowerShell) to optimize runtime costs — e.g., auto-shutdown of non-critical services.
Implement monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning using cloud-native tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Stackdriver).
Integrate CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).
Enforce security best practices and compliance configurations (IAM roles, encryption, networking policies).
Work closely with development and project management teams to align infrastructure with product goals.
Generate regular reports on cost, performance, and uptime metrics.
Preferred Qualifications :
Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect Associate / Azure Administrator / GCP Engineer).
Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid setups.
Exposure to FinOps tools (CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management).
Prior experience supporting project managers or leadership in cloud budgeting and reporting.
Soft Skills : Strong analytical and documentation skills.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Proactive approach to problem-solving and optimization.
Ownership mindset and accountability for uptime and cost outcomes.
Requirements
Required Skills & Experience :
5–10 years of experience in Cloud Engineering / DevOps roles.
Hands-on expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
Strong command of Terraform / CloudFormation and scripting (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
Proficiency in Docker / Kubernetes for containerized deployment (optional but desirable).
Familiarity with VPC design, load balancing, auto-scaling, and IAM.
Experience in cost optimization techniques, such as right-sizing, reserved instances, or serverless options.
Working knowledge of CI/CD and version control systems (Git).
Understanding of basic networking and security principles.
Diversity Inclusion: At Exavalu, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We welcome applications for employment from all qualified candidates, regardless of race, color, gender, national or ethnic origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other status protected by applicable law. We nurture a culture that embraces all individuals and promotes diverse perspectives, where you can make an impact and grow your career. Exavalu also promotes flexibility depending on the needs of employees, customers and the business. It might be part-time work, working outside normal 9-5 business hours or working remotely. We also have a welcome back program to help people get back to the mainstream after a long break due to health or family reasons.
