This role oversees the care and enhancement of a prestigious 60‑acre private estate, managing approximately 15 acres of gardens, lawns, a 3.5‑acre pond, a 70,000‑sq‑ft swimming pool with waterfall, and 3/8 mile of river frontage.

Job Overview Our client seeks an experienced, proven grounds manager to maintain a serene, visually stunning environment.

The ideal candidate will maintain plant health, landscape aesthetics, and environmental sustainability, while ensuring safety and compliance with all regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement grounds maintenance schedules to ensure optimal plant health and landscape aesthetics.

Design and execute comprehensive maintenance plans, including turf management, tree care, and landscape design.

Monitor irrigation systems, pond electrical and pump operations, and perform routine maintenance and repairs.

Maintain and service all groundskeeping equipment, ensuring tools such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers are in good working condition.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards, especially regarding chemical use and waste disposal.

Plan and execute seasonal landscaping projects, including leaf removal, planting, and flower rotation.

Manage the grounds maintenance budget, monitor expenditures, and provide cost‑effective recommendations for supplies and equipment.

Collaborate with property owners and stakeholders, communicating project updates, schedules, and potential disruptions.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years in grounds maintenance, horticulture, or landscaping, preferably in a private estate or high‑end residential setting.

Associate’s degree or coursework in Horticulture, Landscape Management, Environmental Science, or related field.

Strong knowledge of plant species, pest control, and equipment operation.

Proficient in landscape design principles and sustainability practices.

Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and multi‑project management skills.

Strong communication skills for interacting with owners, staff, and vendors.

Experience with budgeting and financial management.

Valid driver’s license; pesticide application certification is a plus.

Physical ability to perform labor in various weather conditions, lift heavy equipment, and adhere to safety protocols.
