Overview
The Budd Group is seeking an experienced and professional Landscape Crew Leader to manage and maintain the grounds of a respected all-girls private school in Chatham, VA. This is a full-time position on a Primarily Monday – Friday schedule, with rotating weekends as needed. Hours are 8-hour shifts, with morning start times that can vary (as early as 6:30 AM). Compensation: $18.00 per hour. Lead a Team on a Prestigious Campus! As the Crew Leader, you will oversee a small team to ensure the school’s campus remains safe, pristine, and aesthetically pleasing for students, faculty, and visitors. Responsibilities
Lead, train, and motivate a small grounds crew in daily landscape maintenance tasks. Perform and oversee a variety of hands-on landscaping duties, including mowing, edging, string trimming, pruning, planting, and mulching. Operate and ensure the proper maintenance of all landscaping equipment, such as zero-turn mowers, blowers, and trimmers. Manage seasonal projects, including leaf removal, aeration, fertilization, and preparing grounds for special events. Proactively identify and address potential issues with turf, trees, and ornamental plants. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols. Communicate effectively with school administration and management to coordinate projects and address needs. Qualifications
Proven experience in a professional landscaping or groundskeeping role is required. Previous leadership experience (Crew Leader, Foreman, etc.) is strongly preferred. Strong horticultural knowledge, including plant identification, turf management, and proper pruning techniques. Proficiency in operating a wide range of commercial landscape equipment. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Must be reliable, self-motivated, and have a keen eye for detail. Ability to work a flexible morning schedule and rotating weekends. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check required for working in a school environment. Schedule & Compensation
This is a full-time, year-round position. The core schedule is Monday through Friday, with a rotating weekend schedule required to meet campus needs. Hours: 8-hour daily shifts. Start times are in the morning and can be as early as 6:30 AM. Compensation: $18.00 per hour.
