Electrical & Instrumentation/Controls Engineer
with 5 to 10 years of experience to work on Heavy Industrial Projects (controls upgrades, MCC replacements, new equipment additions) for our steel and aluminum clients. Base Pay Range
$85,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr Minimum Qualifications
5 to 10 year design experience. Extensive working knowledge and understanding of the latest version of the National Electrical Code, especially hazardous location wiring practices. Working knowledge of industry standards: ISA and relevant UL, API, NFPA, IEEE Complete knowledge of selecting components for the design of SCADA and PLC/DCS control system including panel layout, architecture, configuration, sizing, and communication links (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, etc) Proficient in performing applicable calculations and selecting instrumentation (flow, pressure, and temperature), transmitters, actuators, motor operated valves, control valves, etc. Proficient in interfacing with 480 V and below power electrical equipment (MCC and motor controls, transformers, ASDs, etc.) and calculations: Conduit fill, Single phase voltage drop, Single phase transformer sizing, Feeder/Conductor sizing, Panelboard and breaker sizing, etc. Proficient in MS Word and Excel in creating documents from scratch. Proficient in the production of typical electrical engineering drawings including: wiring diagrams, electrical interconnects, panel layouts, junction box design, PLC cabinet design, plot plans, loop diagrams, I/O lists, P&IDs, cable/conduit routing plans/sections/details, cable/conduit schedules, panelboard schedules, electrical and instrument installation details. Proficiency in AutoCAD (text changes, move elements, etc.) Excellent interpersonal relationship skills: Work with clients one-on-one (minimal supervision) on scope development and technical details. Good verbal and written communication skills in English Excellent mentoring skills to help train less experienced designers and engineers if required. Responsibilities
Lead projects from start to finish. Plan own daily work and the work of other team members. Apply client and departmental design guidelines and/or drafting standards in daily work assignments with guidance from senior staff. Ensure that layer names, line types, text sizes, and drawing arrangements are in accordance with standards as set forth on the Project. Participate in or lead squad check drawing package reviews. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time Be able to read, interpret, and check vendor E&I drawings and vendor catalogs. Travel independently to and conduct site surveys to document electrical, instrumentation, and controls at existing client sites and facilities ( Proficient in AutoCAD at creating drawings from scratch and MS Access Experiences requiring leadership and self-initiated activities Experience with three phase power calculations and equipment sizing and grounding Experience with satellite and cell communications Seniority Level
