Base pay range $35.00/hr - $45.00/hr
Reports To: Manufacturing Manager
Job Purpose The Team Lead is ultimately responsible for day‑to‑day team activities and other duties as required in the department area as well as coordinating a team of Makers to achieve departmental goals.
Responsibilities
Reviews job travelers and part drawings to accurately produce parts
Makes all required quality checks during production to ensure parts are produced to required dimensions and conform to all specifications.
Completes all job‑related paperwork and production reporting to accurately record part quantity and scrap.
Ensures team members have the appropriate equipment, tools, and material to work on their assigned job
Audits compliance with standard work instructions and process control plans to ensure production of good parts
Reviews unplanned scrap with employees and Supervision to identify root cause and implement effective countermeasures.
Monitors daily production activities regarding quality, safety, and productivity and acts when deviations are identified, or intervention is required to achieve the team goals
Champions the QEK program by actively soliciting suggestions and helping team members implement product and process improvements.
Champions the team’s safety program and complies with all safety practices and regulations.
Lead, guide, mentor, and train Makers to ensure quality and timely production to scheduled activities within the department
In coordination with the Manufacturing Manager and Production Scheduler, monitor and adjust workflow to facilitate timely start and completion of job operations to the ERP system master schedule
Act as a resource to ensure communication and resolution of technical issues preventing successful execution of production activities as scheduled
Participate in team efforts to maintain, update, or establish new process controls and procedures to achieve consistent results
Provide input on Maker’s performance as part of the review and feedback loop and make recommendations on individual skill development plans
Assist with Continuous Improvement projects and processes such as Kata walks, Quick and Easy Kaizen (QEK) program, scrap reduction, rework elimination, and increased metal removal rates
Champion the area’s 6S program and audit completion of daily checklists to maintain a safe and clean work environment
Using formal problem‑solving tools, troubleshoot issues in real time and assist Makers with resolution or escalation in a timely manner to maintain productivity
Coach and develop a team of problem solvers, focusing on prevention over detection
Demonstrate leadership capabilities and exemplify the company’s core values
Perform other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Above average experience with standard shop tools and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, intra-mics, gauges) required
Previous experience in a high‑mix precision machine shop environment required
Previous experience setting up and operating Vertical CNC milling machines required
Previous experience writing and troubleshooting programs in Mastercam preferred
Lean manufacturing and quality system experience preferred (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, and AS9100D preferred)
Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
Ability to use material handling equipment, including forklifts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer literacy required and experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) preferred
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
