Mental Health Practitioner I
to join our
Long‑Term Residential
program. These are full‑time positions responsible for providing a supportive environment for our clients.
Schedule:
Day positions.
Location(s):
Blaine, Burnsville, Brooklyn Park, and Little Canada.
Hiring Range:
$22 – $23.76 per hour based on qualifications.
Hiring bonus:
$1,000 for external candidates.
Main Job Duties
Document interactions with clients into the organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and, if applicable, program‑specific documentation/record‑keeping system, while providing clear and concise communication with client, staff and other applicable parties.
Effectively interact and exhibit behavior that is consistent with customer service and professional standards established by the organization, division and program.
Responsible for medication administration in accordance with organization and program policies and procedures.
Using person‑centered principles, actively engage with clients in their daily activities, and develop and maintain appropriate relationships that support the client in meeting their individual goals.
Provide crisis intervention and de‑escalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms or other emotional responses while prioritizing client and program safety.
Independent Living Skills, teaching and/or coaching, as it relates to the individual’s goal and/or treatment plans.
Requirements
Master’s degree in a behavioral science or related field; OR
Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science or related field and proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; OR
Has completed 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral science or a related field and
Has proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; OR
Has 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness; OR
Has 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, mental health de‑escalation techniques, co‑occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; OR
Is fluent in the non‑English language of the cultural group to which 50% of the practitioner’s clients belong; OR
Has a high school diploma and 4,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness; OR
Has 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness, emotional disturbance, or substance use disorder, and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional once a week until 4,000 hours of experience is met; OR
Has 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness, traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities, including training on mental illness, mental health de‑escalation techniques, co‑occurring mental illness and substance abuse; OR
Is currently enrolled in a graduate level behavioral sciences program at an accredited college or university and is formally assigned to the program for clinical training;
Must be free of chemical use problems for at least two years immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact, if applicable.
Preferred Education And Experience
Master’s degree in a behavioral science or related field.
Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science or related field and proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields.
2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness.
