Title: Nurse Practitioner, Pulmonary Medical Critical Care Saint Peter's is the 5th hospital worldwide to earn Magnet status SIX times in a row. Our team of award‑winning nurses is growing, and we are looking for talented, compassionate RNs to join our team.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care within the limits prescribed by training and in consultation with a supervising physician.

Assist with evaluating and managing follow‑up patients and maintain a continuity panel of care patients.

Assist with patient flow by seeing patients as requested by the attending physician and coordinate on‑call telephone coverage.

Assist with procedures when triage nurses are unavailable, including urinary catheterization, venipuncture, and other nursing tasks, and assist physicians with other specialized procedures such as skin biopsy.

Review routine laboratory reports for abnormalities, notify the responsible clinician according to degree of urgency, and contact families to return for further evaluation or treatment of conditions detected by screening.

Document all aspects of patient care promptly, completing documentation within 24 hours of patient care.

Assist in developing the APN role in genetics and teach other department personnel, including teaching medical students the elements of well‑child care and providing in‑service education for nurses and nursing assistants.

Assist with coordination of emergency policy and procedure, including organizing mock training exercises for staff.

Assist with planning, developing and implementing patient education activities appropriate to the ages of patients through the life cycle factors, evaluating caregiver understanding and developing new innovative methods of patient education.

Maintain CPR review certification on an annual basis and attend all mandatory in‑service updates.

Assist with setting and revising practice policies, reviewing current policies and making suggestions for revision, and assist with routine paperwork such as medication refills and sharing patient information with other health care providers.

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of New Jersey.

Current Advance Practice Nursing licensure in the State of New Jersey.

Current CDS and DEA required.

Master’s degree in nursing required.

Two (2) years’ experience in specialty strongly preferred.

Certified as a nurse practitioner in the State of New Jersey within the area of specialty.

BLS certification, as approved by the American Heart Association.
