Electrical Engineer 3 – Lam Research Join Lam Research as an Electrical Engineer 3 in the Global Products Group and work on the design and engineering of etch and deposition products that solve challenges in the semiconductor industry.

The Impact You’ll Make Design and develop complex electrical systems and solutions, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results to create reliable cutting‑edge solutions.

What You’ll Do

Design and develop complex electrical systems, sub‑systems, and solutions using engineering methods.

Contribute to R&D by collecting and analyzing data to improve electrical system designs.

Develop functional specifications for electrical/ electro‑mechanical systems and power distribution components.

Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering design teams to design and modify custom and OEM system components.

Perform hands‑on test and validation using lab equipment for characterization of the performance of the electrical/ electro‑mechanical systems.

Prepare high‑quality reports and technical presentations to communicate design intent, analysis, and results to diverse audiences.

Act as a resource and mentor for more junior colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years; or equivalent work experience.

Hands‑on experience in electronic circuit design (analog, digital), signal and controls theory, development and associated electrical board design, troubleshooting and validation.

Solid understanding of AC/DC Power distribution systems.

In‑depth system‑level understanding of Electrical architecture, system integration, and applications.

Excellent working knowledge in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and low‑voltage circuit design for power and control applications.

Expertise in application of power and controls technologies for systems automation.

Knowledgeable in CAD tools for circuit design and simulation (e.g., PCAD, ORCAD, ZUKEN, AutoCAD, Spice, ADS, HFSS).

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to define functional requirements and execute in a dynamic team environment.

Familiarity with design for serviceability, manufacturability, and reliability.

Highly proficient at troubleshooting systems with tools like network sniffers, protocol analyzers, and tool logs.

Experience with problem‑solving techniques such as 5‑why, 8D, fishbones.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical presentations.

Experience in semiconductor industry or related (industrial, automotive, military).

Work Location Models Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on‑site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely. On‑site Flex: 3+ days per week on site with the ability to work remotely for the balance of the week. Virtual Flex: 1–2 days per week on site with the remainder of the time remote.
