This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. This role involves working on engine fluid controls within a small, passionate team. You will own designs from concept through qualification and be involved in all aspects of development.

Responsibilities

Design valve components, assemblies, and tools; mentor and lead other engineers through development approaches and techniques for fluid control systems. Collaborate with program leaders, systems engineers, suppliers, and test groups to select architectures and design solutions. Oversee testing of components, both standalone and within engine hot-fire tests, to ensure valves meet design requirements and goals. Help define and refine best practices for engine valves and mechanisms to improve design efficiency. Work on components such as solenoid valves, pneumatically actuated valves, check valves, cryogenic valves, and pressurized fluid systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Passion for Blue Origin’s mission: Millions of people living and working in space! B.S. degree in engineering discipline (aerospace, mechanical, chemical or physics desired) 8+ years of professional engineering experience with valves, fluid control systems, and mechanisms, including rocket or jet engine experience Experience examining and resolving non-conforming hardware Strong technical fundamentals in propulsion, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and structural analysis Strong knowledge of hardware design processes and hardware fabrication techniques related to valves High attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skills Computer aided design (CAD) experience Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), ASME Y14.5 Familiarity with data analysis and data processing

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in engineering discipline Experience designing products for cryogenic fluids Exposure to or experience with pneumatic/hydraulic valves design, test, and manufacturing Experience in vendor management Experience with production quality management systems Experience transitioning products from development to production Experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, and Windchill 10

Compensation

Compensation Range For WA applicants is $140,959.00-$197,342.25
