Construction Property Underwriter (II or III) Zurich North America is hiring an experienced Construction Property Underwriter (Level II or Level III) to join the Construction Property team at one of our offices in the south (Addison, TX; Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; or Maitland, FL). Candidates may work on a hybrid basis and will partner with their manager to set a flexible schedule while meeting with agents, brokers, and national wholesalers to drive growth and profitability. The role requires a strong sales execution mindset, knowledge of commercial construction property policies, and 20–25% travel.

Key Accountabilities

Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.

Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives and other business-related needs, as appropriate.

Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention and acquisition and work with customers and distributors to determine their insurance–related needs and provide solutions.

Support the organization's sales culture by being a help point for agents, brokers and customers.

Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.

Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.

Qualify accounts to meet with the organization's appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.

Make broker/customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.

Basic Qualifications Construction Property Underwriter (Level II)

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.

Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.

Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.

Experience with Microsoft Office.

Construction Property Underwriter (Level III)

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.

Experience working in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.

Commercial Construction Property underwriting experience and broker relationships in the South/Southeastern region.

Ability to effectively assess risk.

Strong negotiation skills.

Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win‑win negotiating.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines.

Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility.

PC and related software skills.

CPCU and ARM a plus.

Compensation The combined salary range for this position is

$75,000.00 – $165,000.00 . Level II has a proposed range of

$98,500.00 – $165,000.00

with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
