Graduate Civil Engineer

Pennoni is hiring for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team on a full-time, direct basis in the Leesburg, VA area. This person will assist on multi-disciplinary designs for site development projects (public & private). The position will support Staff and Project-level Engineers in all aspects of projects—including conceptual/planning, preliminary design, detailed design, construction documentation, permitting documents and engineering reports.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform site design work; site layout, grading, utilities-oriented tasks (e.g., water & sanitary sewer systems), and public street design.
Perform site evaluations for land development feasibility.
Assist with stormwater management: design stormwater piping systems, assist with Erosion & Sediment Control, review retention/detention, and implement BMPs when necessary.
Review local municipal ordinances and county & state regulations.
Assist the design team in preparation of plans for permitting and construction.
Assist with the preparation of permit applications.
Prepare engineering reports to demonstrate compliance with client requirements and/or regulatory requirements.
Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (e.g., Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering, etc.). Recent and upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
FE / EIT.
Experience working on greenfield land development and/or water resource engineering projects.
Experience with stormwater management design calculations, especially utilizing Hydrology and Hydraulics modeling tools.
Proficiency with engineering tools (CADD, project management software); exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bluebeam Revu is a plus.
Proficiency in basic office software applications, especially Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe.
Excellent organizational, teamwork, self-motivated and multi-tasking skills.
Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
