Responsibilities
Passionate about building a great team and putting people and culture at the forefront.
Not afraid to dig into hard engineering problems to improve core fundamentals of our systems.
Add critical and exciting new features.
Revolutionize how our engineers work day-to-day.
Try new things such as bringing the power of machine learning and statistical analysis at scale to solve these and other problems.
Work with peers across the company in Office, Azure, Microsoft365, and Research.
Guide a team of engineers, mentoring them through this journey and providing technical and architectural leadership as we evolve our scalable, distributed service.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Prior experience with developing large high-volume services, with service-oriented development and cloud-based systems.
Demonstrated commitment to the success of others; as a leader, you will mentor and manage a team of developers.
Strong technical abilities, problem solving, design, rapid prototyping, coding, and debugging skills.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements. These include but are not limited to specialized security screenings such as the Microsoft Cloud Background Check, which must be passed on hire and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 15+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Good communication skills and a track record of cross-group/cross-discipline collaboration.
Quick learner who thrives in an ambiguous environment.
Team player with a positive attitude.
Excellent collaboration skills and ability to be adaptable and agile in development.
Demonstrated experience as a technical lead or people manager.
Software Engineering M6 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. For those in the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the range is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
