seeks a skilled and motivated Transmission Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the development of transmission systems and infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering high‑quality solutions to meet our clients' needs. The candidate may be placed at the title level of Transmission Engineer II, III, or IV depending on knowledge and experience.
Responsibilities
Design and develop high‑voltage transmission lines and systems, including route selection, structure design, and conductor sizing.
Perform load flow studies, steel/concrete structure and foundation design & analysis, and stability analyses to ensure the reliability and safety of transmission systems.
Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings for transmission projects.
Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines to ensure successful project delivery.
Analyze and troubleshoot existing transmission systems to improve efficiency and reliability.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including NERC, FERC, and local codes.
Utilize advanced software tools (e.g., PLS‑CADD, PSS/E, AutoCAD) for system analysis and design.
Participate in site visits and inspections to assess transmission infrastructure and identify potential issues.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in transmission engineering.
Perform other job‑related duties as requested by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related accredited program is required.
4+ years of experience in transmission line and/or distribution line design.
Professional Engineering (PE) licensure, or ability to obtain within one year.
Experience with overhead and underground distribution systems is highly preferred.
Proficiency in transmission line design software such as PLS‑CADD, AutoCAD, M‑FAD, LPILE analysis, or similar.
Ability to interpret boring log information, analyze structure calculations, and design distribution level lines.
Strong understanding of power systems analysis, including load flow, short‑circuit, and stability studies.
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.
Skills:
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Experience with project management and construction coordination is a plus.
