Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems Modeling Simulation – Analyst & Simulation Developer (25-513) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This role, based in Colorado Springs, CO, is vital in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system’s current and future capabilities.

Seeking a highly motivated analyst to support the C2BMC-NT (National Team) Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Product Team. Candidates must possess a strong engineering background across various disciplines that support both conceptual and detailed system-level assessments, along with a fundamental understanding of analysis techniques, planning, execution, and reporting. The candidate will be expected to provide technical expertise in missile defense (MD) modeling, simulation, and analysis.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities include planning and conducting performance analyses on C2BMC and its interactions with current and future MD Elements

Analyze documents to generate reports and briefings, present findings to diverse audiences, develop requirements for complex system models and simulations, and execute, test, and troubleshoot MD-level, large-scale models and simulations

Develop, test, and evaluate threat scenarios

Create tools to assist analysis and development in MATLAB and Python

Present data to support decisions regarding system or element representations and modeling parameters in large-scale simulations

Engage with members of other C2BMC Product Teams, C2BMC leadership, MDA customers, technical SMEs, and leadership of other MD Element programs

Basic Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 4 years of relevant work experience

Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Radar Design and Performance

Strategic and tactical missile threat assessment, performance analysis, modeling, and simulation of complex systems

Decomposition of requirements and test conditions

Additional Skills And Preferred Experience Include

Discrete-event simulation modeling

Data analysis using Python and MATLAB tools

Exposure to tactical and strategic weapons and sensor message standards

Software development in a Linux and Agile environment using MATLAB and Python (strongly preferred), as well as Java, Bash, and others

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
