Job Description:
The Manufacturing Operations Manager position leads a team of production leaders who oversee assembly and test technicians. The manager is the execution leader and responsible for the production of electromechanical assemblies that include modems, antennas and other communication equipment, known as the LRU (Line Replaceable Units) group. They work with their direct reports to set resources (both people and equipment) to meet the needs of the business. They support production by quickly responding to issues impacting the production floor. They provide day-to-day work direction for direct report(s), focus on maintaining steady workflow and productivity and resolving operational decisions. The manager provides input on hiring, firing, promotion, performance and/or compensation decisions for all employees in their organization. Reports directly to a Sr. Manager or higher. The operations manager works closely with the manufacturing engineering manager and other peers to ensure proper functional group coordination and manufacturing objectives are met.
Leads and directs supervisors, and/or associate managers
Communicates within and outside of the Manufacturing organization to influence changes to policies, practices, or approaches
Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices.
Contribute to the Operations strategic vision and targets
Manages the implementation of functional strategies and recommends operational plans that directly impact the short to mid-term function or business area results
Motivate team to produce world class products while staying on budget and schedule
Works with manufacturing engineering team to optimize and improve the test and manufacturing processes and solve problems
Identifies, defines, and addresses general problems that are typically within the area or team
Help manage organizational resources and priorities
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Management and leadership experience
Excellent customer service, communication skills, and people skills
Work experience at department of defense contractor
Strong sense of project ownership and accountability, ability to move projects forward and stay on top of deadlines
Understands leadership approaches and has broad practical knowledge of Operations (Manufacturing/Test/Engineering).
Applicable Manufacturing or other technical experience preferred.
