Body Shop Foreman – Academy Bus
Location: Secaucus, NJ. Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM.
Description Academy Bus is seeking a skilled and motivated
Body Shop Foreman
to lead our 2nd Shift operations at our Secaucus, NJ facility. This is a unique opportunity to take charge of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, where your expertise in body repair and team leadership will directly impact the quality and reliability of our fleet. Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of a body repair and paint shop
Supervise a team of body repair technicians
Manage workflow, quality control, and documentation for all buses undergoing repair
Inspect incoming buses, assess damage, and document with photos
Prioritize and schedule repairs to meet operational needs
Assign daily tasks and monitor progress throughout the repair process
Prepare and manage accident estimates, ensuring repairs stay within budget
Review work orders for accuracy in parts usage and labor approval
Maintain parts inventory through cycle counts and proper documentation
Source parts, schematics, and work instructions from manufacturers
Create and analyze reports using Microsoft Excel
Keep staff updated on equipment, including Van Hool, Prevost, and MCI
Desired Characteristics
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal abilities to foster teamwork and a positive work environment
Proven ability to manage conflict and handle employee relations professionally
Capable of giving clear instructions while promoting open dialogue and collaboration
Requirements
Hands‑on experience in paint/refinishing, chassis and fabrication work, and collision repair; bus and motorcoach experience is a plus
Minimum of 5 years working in an autobody and paint shop
At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a shop environment
Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations
Proficiency with computer systems, software programs, and online resources used in shop operations
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for reporting, tracking, and analysis
