Overview

Maintenance Aide (Part-Time Laborer IV) positions in the Public Works & Utilities Department. This recruitment is open on a continuous basis and will close when the needs of the City are met. The City of Laguna Beach is accepting applications to fill four (4) Maintenance Aide positions. Maintenance Aides play a vital role in keeping our city clean, safe, and beautiful. The position may be assigned to one or more divisions, including Street Maintenance, Building and Facilities, Landscape Maintenance and Urban Forestry, or Fleet Maintenance. Responsibilities

Assist with upkeep of parks, recreation areas, streets, trees, and city vehicles. Clean public facilities and perform landscaping, repair work, and maintenance of streets and storm drains. Service City vehicles and equipment. This position reports to a Division Manager or assigned supervisor. Qualifications

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of general maintenance, construction, or repair work experience. Experience in driving larger vehicles is desirable. Basic knowledge of simple hand tools and basic mechanical skills. Experience in landscaping and irrigation is highly desirable. License/Certificate Requirements: A valid California Driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required. A valid California Class B Driver's license is desirable. Must be at least 17 years of age to be hired as a Laborer III and at least 18 years of age for Laborer IV. Application/Selection & Pre-Placement

Hourly/Part-Time benefits include eligible pay structure with multiple steps; overtime rate is time and a half for hours over forty per week. Retirement: Eligible employees are enrolled in the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS) with City matching contribution. Sick Leave: 40 hours annually, provided each July.
