Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and analytical

Payroll Analyst

to join our growing Total Rewards and HR Operations team. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations across our multi‑entity organization.

The ideal candidate brings UKG expertise, a strong command of payroll and tax regulations, and the ability to leverage data and technology to streamline processes, identify root causes, and deliver insights. This individual will partner cross‑functionally with HR, Finance, and Accounting to enhance employee experience and continuously improve payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

Key Duties And Essential Functions

Manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for bi‑weekly and semi‑monthly payrolls, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

Audit employee time, earnings, deductions, and tax withholdings to maintain data integrity and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Manage multi‑state and multi‑entity payrolls, ensuring appropriate tax registrations, filings, and payments.

Research and resolve complex payroll and tax discrepancies, partnering with UKG Support or tax agencies as needed.

Maintain strong internal controls and support quarterly and annual audit activities.

Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll‑related compliance inquiries and agency correspondence.

Participate in payroll system updates, testing, and enhancements to improve data flow and reporting accuracy.

Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to document and improve payroll processes.

Collaborate with HRIS, Finance, and Accounting teams to reconcile payroll data with general ledger accounts and benefit files.

Generate, analyze, and interpret payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and process improvement opportunities.

Lead or assist with process improvement and automation initiatives to streamline payroll operations and enhance the employee experience.

Partner closely with HR and Finance to ensure alignment on payroll timing, reporting, and policy updates.

Support payroll activities related to mergers, acquisitions, and entity integrations.

Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and taxes with professionalism and confidentiality.

Build positive relationships across departments to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.

Perform quarterly and annual tax reconciliations, ensuring accuracy in W‑2s, W‑2Cs, and other year‑end reporting.

Review year‑end payroll data and ensure timely completion of all filings and submissions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

4‑6 years of processing payroll experience in a complex, multi‑entity, multi‑state environment

High school diploma or GED

Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance, garnishments, and wage and hour laws.

High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong data analysis skills.

Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Flexibility in terms of willingness to meet varied and changing demands.

Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) designation

Experience supporting payroll during system implementations, upgrades, or acquisitions.

Demonstrated expertise in UKG Pro payroll, including configuration, troubleshooting, and reporting.

Physical Demands And Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.

Compensation $96,000 - $108,900 (Dependent on qualifications)
