Resident Care Director RN
Sunrise Senior Living is seeking a Resident Care Director RN to lead nursing clinical care and coordinate services for residents.
Pay Range $78,208.00/yr - $107,952.00/yr
Job Overview The Resident Care Director (RCD) serves as the nursing clinical leader for the community and is responsible to lead and manage health and wellness along with coordination of care and services to residents within the community.
Responsibilities & Qualifications Essential Duties
Provide strategic leadership for resident care, managing the nursing team to promote health and wellness of residents.
Provide clinical care through nursing process; perform and document resident assessments, progress notes, evaluate changes in care needs, complete Individualized Service Plans, provide or delegate hands‑on care, evaluate outcomes.
Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate care and services.
Serve as the CLIA Director as applicable.
Partner with neighborhood coordinators to promote integrated wellness operations and resident care.
Collaborate with sales partners to determine community capability and assess potential residents’ appropriateness for move‑in.
Medication Management
Provide strategic leadership for medication care managers to promote health and wellness.
Oversee the community medication management program, including onboarding, training, and performance reviews.
Provide clinical training and education to nurses, medication care managers, care managers, and others; perform skill evaluation to assure clinical capability.
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
Track, trend, and report clinical quality data to identify risk.
Participate as a member of the community Q&A and Performance Improvement committee.
Lead clinical quality and process improvement initiatives to improve resident care outcomes.
Recruit, hire, and train clinical team members; responsible for performance management, evaluations, engagement.
Complete staffing and scheduling according to operational and budgetary guidelines.
Partner with community leadership to promote resident safety and compliance with risk management regulations.
Serve as ICC and CLIA Director.
Responsible for infection control programming.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state/provincial, board of nursing, and other regulations.
Financial Management
Manage the department budget; process and submit monthly expenses and budget data.
Understand internal costs associated with all Sunrise resident care programs.
Training, Leadership and Team Development
Partner with the Regional Director of Resident Care and/or Executive Director on training and development programs.
On‑board new RCD leaders and other department coordinators as needed.
Develop knowledge of regulations; supervise and coach team members.
Schedule staffing according to operational guidelines.
Hold team accountable, correct actions, and document.
Attend regular meetings and departmental events.
Stay current with professional developments.
Maintain compliance with required training.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Handle multiple priorities efficiently.
Demonstrate critical thinking, clinical judgment, and decision‑making.
Experience and Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited college or school of nursing.
Current state/provincial RN license.
Minimum 2 years RN experience, including 1 year in home health, assisted living, or long‑term care.
Minimum 1 year nursing management experience.
Certified in CPR and First Aid.
Knowledge of federal, state/provincial, and board requirements.
Infection control practices.
Experience in tracking performance data.
Experience in quality and clinical process improvement.
Experience in staff development and education.
Computer proficiency with EMR, Microsoft Office, and learning new applications.
Ability to work weekends, evenings, flexible hours, and 24/7 on‑call responsibility.
