Full-Time; 184 days / 6.5 hrs/day
Responsibilities
Assist in instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings.
Manage behavior – redirect, calm or remove disruptive students.
Monitor and record student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
Manage physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
Implement behavioral management program; maintain student data; work with students who may display aggressive, abusive or inappropriate behavior.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
Completed 60 semester/90 quarter credits or possess an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or have passed the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam. Documentation will be required.
Good communication, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills.
Ability to work with technology and computers.
Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff, supervise students, take direction, and maintain regular attendance.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
Pay $20.00 – $25.30/hr – DOQ with K‑12 experience.
$21.15 – $26.45/hr – DOQ with K‑12 experience (AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits).
$22.00 – $27.30/hr – DOQ with K‑12 experience (BA degree).
Special Ed Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms 50% or more of their time receive an additional $0.50/hr.
Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center receive an additional $1.00/hr.
Benefits Insurance benefits available for assigned positions of 6 hours or more per day.
